Samenvatting:
For existing processes, that are difficult to control as a result oftheir complexity or non-linear behavior, a more stable process control and
reduced energy consumption can be realized by means of neuro-fuzzy control
systems. Neuro-fuzzy control systems are control systems in which neural
networks and fuzzy logic are integrated. Also, such control systems can
stimulate the development of new, energetic efficient processes. The
principles of fuzzy control systems, neural networks and combinations of the
two (neuro-fuzzy control) are outlined and illustrated for two cases: fuzzy
control of the temperature of a high-temperature gas heater, and a
neuro-fuzzy control of a gas-fired steam boiler
