Samenvatting:
The title program determines the optimal chord and twist distributionalong a rotor blade of a stall or pitch regulated turbine, such that the maximum energy yield is obtained. Rotor diameter, rotor speed and aerodynamic profile coefficients should (still) be prescribed and are not optimised. In addition, the rated power should be specified. Then the energy yield is calculated under the condition that this rated power may not be exceeded. The program operates on PC's working under WINDOWS 3.1 or higher. Much attention has been paid to the user friendliness of the program. An on-line, context sensitive user's manual is available and published as a separate report. The aerodynamic power curve is calculated by means of the blade element momentum theory, for axisymmetric, stationary conditions. The wind climate should be prescribed by a Weibull distribution. Hence, from the power curve and the wind speed distribution, the aerodynamic energy yield is known. A very simple optimisation algorithm is implemented. Thereto the chords and twist angles along the blade are changed independently (with constant steps), until the optimal values are found. This document also reports some test cases, both for a stall regulated as well as a pitch regulated turbine. A considerable increase in energy yield is found. It is evident that the resulting increase depends on the start geometry. In a next phase of the BLADOPT project, a more sophisticated optimisation algorithm will be implemented. Furthermore, the objective function to be optimized will become the cost of energy instead of the energy yield. 4 figs., 6 tabs., 2 refs.
