Current projects Solar Energy

Below is a brief description of some of the projects ECN Solar Energy is currently working on.

CHEETAH is a combined collaborative project (CP) and coordination and support action (CSA) funded under the European Commission’s 7th Framework programme. CHEETAH aims to solve specific R&D issues in the EERA-PV Joint Program and to overcome fragmentation of European PV R&D in Europe and intensify the collaboration between R&D providers and industry to accelerate the industrialization of innovations.

  • Silicon Competence Centre (SICC)
The SiCC is a joint project between Dutch PV industry partners, ECN, AMOLF and Delft University of Technology. The project is part of the Top Consortium for Knowledge and Innovation (TKI) for Solar Energy. This partnership enables research ranging from silicon wafer through to module manufacture.

The aim of the SiCC is to build up a crystalline silicon PV research and infrastructure network. It intends to develop a state-of-the-art infrastructure that offers good access to industrial partners.

The SiCC also aims to bring together the various competencies in the associated knowledge institutions and industrial partners. The result should be new applications in solar cell processing, material knowledge, manufacturing technology and modelling.
