Introduction:

ECN Solar Energy is famous for its technology development of back-contact solar cells and corresponding module technology. Currently this technology is being adopted by industrial partners and photovoltaic modules of this kind of technology are entering the market.

Back-contacted solar cells are processed in factories, in which at the end of the factory line the solar cell is measured. At ECN we are envisaging a new measurement methodology that characterizes this type of solar cell. The measurement signals will be processed in a model that will generate the relevant physics parameters. For this an algorithm needs to be developed that generates the desired parameters and meets industrial standards. The algorithm needs to be implemented in software and will be subject to tests.

Through models you will simulate the measurement signals and by developing a smart algorithm you will translate measurement signals to relevant physics parameters. You will finally deliver a method for measuring the targetted solar cells and a software program that can generate the relevant physics parameters. The program is optimized for industrial usage, meeting the requirements of speed.

We are looking for an MSc graduate student in (Technical) Physics, (Applied) Mathematics, Electronics or related studies. We are looking for a creative person with a practical attitude. Affiliation with Finite Element Modelling, optimization, regression, linear algebra and/or Kirchoff's circuit law is appreciated. Computer and software skills (e.g. Matlab) is necessary. The work will typically be carried out in six months.
