Mission of ECN Solar Energy

It is ECN Solar Energy’s ambition to advance the large-scale use of photovoltaic solar energy by:

• Developing technologies to reduce the cost of electricity generation by PV;
• Increasing the quality of PV-systems and components;
• Improving the environmental profile of PV-systems and components.

ECN Solar Energy offers a wide range of R&D activities on PV materials and -processing technologies, cell- and module design. These are available for transfer and implementation on laboratory-, pilot- and production scale. Our extensive facilities for solar cell processing and characterization are well suited to study almost all R&D issues relevant for the PV industry. The combination of our skills, experience and facilities makes ECN Solar Energy an ideal partner in joint R&D activities, in fundamental studies as well as in technology development.
