Characteristics of the Facilities

1. DUT
   1. D = 10 m;
   2. Two blades;
   3. Blades without twist and taper;
   4. Instrumented at four radial positions. Until 1999 these stations could not be measured simultaneously. From January 1999 two stations can be measured simultaneously.
   5. Much data have been collected for the 30%, 50% and 70% sections, which were measured independently. These data are stored into the database.
2. ECN
   1. D = 28 m;
   2. Two blades;
   3. Blades with twist and taper;
   4. Instrumented at three radial stations, measured simultaneously;
   5. The tests are completed. Much data have been collected, both for standstill as well as rotating conditions. The data are stored into the ANNEX-XIV/XVIII database;
3. Imperial College
   1. D = 17 m;
   2. Three blades;
   3. Blades with twist and taper;
   4. Instrumented at six radial stations, two stations are measured simultaneously;
   5. A limited number of measurements have been stored in the ANNEX-XIV database. At present the experimental facilility has been dismantled;
4. Mie University
   1. D = 10 m;
   2. Three blades;
   3. Blades with twist and taper;
   4. Instrumented at 4 radial stations, partly measured simultaneously;
   5. A number of measurements are stored into the IEA Annex XVIII database.
5. NREL
   1. D = 10 m;
   2. The experiments are carried out in different phases
      1. Phase II: Three bladed; Blades without twist and taper;
      2. Phase III and IV: As Phase II, but blades have twist. The difference between Phase III and Phase IV is the measurement of the inflow conditions. This is performed with a flag device, respectively a five hole probe;
      3. Phase V: Two bladed; Blades with constant chord, twisted.
   3. Instrumented at 4 (or 5) radial positions, measured simultaneously;
   4. Much data have been collected. The phases II, III and IV are completed and data are stored into the ANNEX-XIV database.
6. RISØ
   1. D = 19 m;
   2. Three blades;
   3. Blades with twist and taper;
   4. Instrumented at three radial stations, measured simultaneously;
   5. Much data have been collected and stored into ANNEX-XIV database. The tests are completed.

   
   Note that CRES did not supply measurements to the database.
