Worldwide developments in energy markets, e.g rising energy demand, uncertainties about (timely) availability of sufficient supply of oil and gas, political aspects and conflicting interests in energy markets (for example the disputes between Russia and Ukraine make it clear that energy supply security is high on the political agenda.
