Energy Efficiency - ODYSSEE

Since 1997 ECN Policy Studies contributes to the Save-project ‘Cross-country Comparison on Energy Efficiency Indicators’. For 27 EU-countries, Norway and Croatia energy consumption data are collected.

The ODYSSEE-MURE project is co-ordinated by ADEME with the technical support of Enerdata and Fraunhofer. The project relies on two comprehensive databases: ODYSSEE and MURE. ODYSSEE contains, on the one hand, detailed data on the energy consumption drivers by end-use and sub-sector and, on the other hand, energy efficiency and CO2 related indicators. The network of national teams updates the data regularly. The ODYSSEE database is managed by Enerdata and updated twice a year. MURE is a data base on policy measures.

Energie efficiency indicatoren can be used to:

• compare energy efficiency levels between countries,
• support policymakers,
• evaluate programmes and policies,
• monitor targets,
• define research programs,
• provide energy data for models.
