Energy Conservation
Energy conservation and energy efficiency are subjects that play important roles in the group National Energy and Emission Strategy of ECN Policy Studies. Although the subjects mainly focus on the situation in the Netherlands, the influences of European energy and climate policy plans can not be neglected. Also, these subjects are strongly related to the activities in the other 5 groups.
In particular, you could have a look at the themes Energy Conservation, Energy in the Future, and Netherlands Climate Policy.
The pages under Energy Conservation provide (or very soon will provide) information on
- realized energy savings in specific periods
- the tools that are used to realize planned energy savings
- the potentials to save energy
- energy conservation policies
- monitoring activities
- energy conservation in different sectors
- behavioural change
The pages under Energy in the Future will (or soon will) offer
- results of so-called Reference Projections with
- data on CO2-emission and other greenhouse gases
- targets for CO2 reduction and climate policy
- information about the WLO-scenarios (scenarios of the Wellfare, Prosperity and Quality of the Living Environment programme)
- European energy scenarios
- an Energy Vision of ECN and the Nuclear Research and Consultancy Group (NRG)
- scenarios in MONITWEB (an information system to monitor the development of national energy consumption and analyze trends
- transition scenarios
In the pages under Netherlands Climate Policy special attention is paid to
- the broad working programme Clean and Efficient, in which the Dutch government outlines the ambitions for energy conservation, sustainable energy and underground storage of CO2. ECN Policy Studies contributes to this working programme
- the Option Document, for which our unit, incooperation with the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency updates all the available options for the Netherlands to reduce emission of greenhouse gases and decreas air pollution.
