Energy in Transport and Buildings

The Energy in Transport and Buildings group’s objective is to carry out research and to provide advice to policy makers on strategies and policies to make energy use in transport and buildings more sustainable.

The group has in-depth knowledge of the drivers for energy use, technological and behavioral options to substitute or reduce energy consumption and the policy instruments to influence energy use. The group has developed quantitative tools to monitor, assess and simulate energy use. The group aims to continue its support to Dutch policy making with analyses for energy use in households, the service sector and transport. The group has acquired a strong position in advising the European Commission on the introduction of biofuels, hydrogen and electricity in the transport sector.
