History

This enabling services group has emerged from the service unit Energy Engineering of ECN. The group contributed heavily to the development of energy technology, from a practical point of view. In 1997 ECN created the business unit Energy Efficiency; the group Technology Services & Consultancy, the former E&S group, was part of this major business unit. In 2000, the unit Energy Efficiency was split into two separate units, the unit Energy Efficiency in Industry and the service unit Technology Services & Consultancy. In January 2003 TS&C was extended with a constructional department and a mechanical and electrical engineering department.

On January the 1st 2006 the basic design and process modelling of energy conversion systems is added to the unit. From now on the unit is called Engineering & Services. Production improvement and development is also added to the unit and characterisation has been extended by chemical analysis.
