The Pyromaat is an indirectly heated screw reactor. It is able to convert typically 5 kg/h of fuel in an O2-free atmosphere at temperatures up to approximately 500°C. Solid fuel residence times typically are long, and can be set up to approximately 30 minutes. The facility can be used to simulate conditions of slow pyrolysis for e.g. waste treatment or torrefaction for fuel upgrading. The Pyromaat facility is coupled to different gas cleaning units.
