Ir. Fred Verhoeff graduated at the Twente University of Technology, unit Thermal Engineering. After his graduation he worked for Stork Boilers as a Project Engineer for special products like fluidised bed boilers, waste heat boilers and coal- oil- and gas burners. Since 2003 Fred Verhoeff is Senior Project Manager at ECN, the Energy research Centre of the Netherlands. Within the unit Biomass, Coal and Environmental Research he is amongst others involved in biomass projects like biomass co-firing in coal fired steam boilers, biomass gasification projects and with torrefaction, a new thermal pre-treatment to enhance the properties of biomass for energy generation purposes.
