Steamjet aerosol collector (SJAC)

The air samples are drawn into the steam chamber of the aerosol collector (SJAC) at a flow rate of ca. 20 l/min, where rapidly growing water droplets are formed on the aerosol particles due to the prevailing oversaturated conditions. The droplets hit the cyclone walls and the coil integrated into the system, and washed into the sample reservoir where they are collected for further analysis.

In most cases the SJAC is used in combination with a wet annular denuder placed before the sample inlet to strip interfering gasses.
