The ECN research theme Biomass holds a top position in the European energy sector in the field of sustainable thermochemical techniques. In other words: the conversion of biomass, coal and waste into energy and feedstocks by means of efficient, environmentally friendly technology that is, above all, in accordance with the market.

This position is the result of the unique variety of research facilities and installations ECN has at its disposal, plus the knowledge required to exploit these facilities and installations to their best advantage.
