ECN: Solar simulator

Solar simulator

A solar simulator is a measuring instrument with which, in a laboratory situation, very quickly the characteristic of a PV solar cell can be measured.

Since 1990 ECN has the disposal of a self-build class A solar simulator. The working of the simulator is based on the continuous exposure with a Xenon-light. During the exposure the solar cell is charged by a currentsweep. During this charge the accompanying power current is being measured. The ECN solar simulator is also provided with the possibility to measure a solar cell at different temperatures and different irradiations.
