Air Quality and Aerosol Measurements

For an optimal management of our installations, investments have been made in the development of online measurement of the main components of fuel (CO, H2, CO2, CH4, O2) and fluegas (CO, CO2, SO2, NOx, CxHy, O2). Furthermore, for the measurement of N2, Ar, C2H4, C2H6, benzene, toluene, xylene, H2S and COS, there are micro-GC's available which are able to perform a total analysis in 1 to 2 minutes.

For determination of dust, moist and trackgasses like NH3, HCl and HCN ECN uses the traditional techniques. At the moment, faster measurement techniques are being developed.

ECN has the knowledge and facilities to, if requested, develop measurement methods for other components. There are, for example, some methods developed for measuring a number of energy related greenhouse gasses like CH4 and N2O in open air. At the moment an online method is being initiated for measuring gaseous elements (Na, K) in process gasses  and heavy metals in open air (dust particles).
