PHYLLIS

the composition of biomass and waste

How to use Phyllis (ECN classification)

Individual datarecords:

Select 'Composition of a single material'.
Then, a selection menu appears. First select the appropriate group and subsequently one of the subgroups related to that group. Finally, you can browse now through the data records in that subgroup and select the desired datarecord. If more than one datarecord answers to the same description a pop-up menu under ID-number enables you to browse through the various datarecords. For each individual datarecord the source (reference) is indicated.

Average values of a number of data records:

Select 'Average composition of a group of materials'.
Now, three selection screens become visible.
  • if you want average values for one or more groups select the upper screen by pressing 'edit'. Indicate the wanted group(s) and press 'done'. Subsequently, press 'results' and the average values will appear.
If you click the appropriate "bar diagram" icon, the distribution of values for that parameter becomes visible (see "Removing extremes" below if you wish to remove extremes)
  • if you want average values for one or more subgroups, select the middle screen by pressing 'edit'. First indicate the group in which the subgroups are situated. Than mark the desired subgroup(s) and press 'done'. When you want a combination of subgroups from different groups repeat the action. Press 'results' to get average values.
If you click the appropriate "bar diagram" icon, the distribution of values for that parameter becomes visible (see "Removing extremes" below if you wish to remove extremes)
  • if you want average values for selected individual datarecords select the lower screen by pressing 'edit'. Select the group and subsequently the subgroup from which you want to select and then indicate which datarecords you want to include. Finally, press 'results' and the average values of the selected datarecords will appear.
If you click the appropriate "bar diagram" icon, the distribution of values for that parameter becomes visible (see "Removing extremes" below if you wish to remove extremes)
  • if you want average values from a combination of a group and subgroup(s) or individual datarecords from another group combine the above actions. Press 'results' when you're satisfied with the selection.
If you click the appropriate "bar diagram" icon, the distribution of values for that parameter becomes visible (see "Removing extremes" below if you wish to remove extremes)

    Removing extremes

You may remove records containing extreme values by ticking the appropriate minimum and/or maximum boxes and clicking the "spread sheet" icon to repeat the calculation of average values. (Changes are not limited to a single parameter as a complete record is removed). The gray background shows which record has been removed and where the extreme value occurred.
You may remove records with extremes for different parameters simultaneously. If you wish to remove more than one record containing extreme values for a single parameter, you have to repeat the procedure.
