The successful completion of the DOWEC project is a milestone for us. Six partners with totally different experience and backgrounds worked together on fundamental scientific as well as industrial development tasks. The multi-partner approach proved not always an easy one. It provided at the same time excellent opportunities to grow into a new exiting business field with great future promise, and to reflect on early offshore visions and expectations of DOWEC ‘s founding fathers. The partners in the DOWEC project are: - Turbine manufacturer NEG Micon Holland,- Rotor blade manufacturer LM Glasfiber Holland,- Marine and Dredging Contractors Van Oord ACZ,- Energy research Centre of the Netherlands (www.ecn.nl),-Delft University Wind Energy Research Institute 'DUWIND', and- Ballast Nedam.
The project is funded by NOVEM and the Economy Ecology and Technology programme of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs (www.eet.nl).
An overview of offshore wind energy and the DOWEC project in specific is reported in "Offshore wind energy: the road to maturity". An introduction to the publicly available technical reports is given in "Executive summary of the public research activities". Both documents can be ordered at the secretary of Wind Energy at ECN:
The technical reports, the two overview documents mentioned above, and the conference papers can be downloaded (in PDF format), see the links at the end of this page. If desired a CD-ROM with all the documents can be ordered at the secretariat of Wind Energy at ECN.
On behalf of the DOWEC group we do sincerely hope that you will enjoy reading the reports, and that some of our spirit and strong belief in the future of offshore wind energy will be passed on
