Planning and preparation of further large-scale demonstration projects for next-generation hydrogen vehicle fleets at additional demo sites across Europe

Summary

NextHyLights is a Supporting Action of the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU) to prepare large-scale hydrogen vehicle demonstration in Europe. In parallel to already existing demonstration projects (Lighthouse Projects) NextHyLights is assisting the FCH JU to prepare the next consequent step, the planning and preparation of further large-scale demonstration projects for next-generation hydrogen vehicle fleets at additional demo sites across Europe.

NextHyLights is working in close cooperation with and under the supervision of FCH JU to develop a strategy (Master Plan) on how to bridge the gap between today’s hydrogen demonstration projects and the start of market introduction.

The approach to develop this Master Plan requires separate preparation of detailed work plans and roll-out plans for the vehicle segments ‘hydrogen passenger cars’, ‘hydrogen buses’ and ‘other hydrogen vehicles’. The vehicle segment specific work plans cover the time span including the next large-scale demonstration projects, whereas the roll-out plans cover the phase towards market introduction.

• Social & environmental impacts regulatory requirements of a large-scale roll-out of hydrogen vehicles.

• Assessment framework for additional hydrogen transport demonstration sites.
