The objective of the group Energy Innovation and Society is to enhance insight and to offer advice on the development and deployment of energy-innovations in order to facilitate the transition to a sustainable energy system in the long term at sufficient pace and reasonable costs. The objectives will be met by carrying out studies on technological learning as well as on the process of deploying energy-innovations, facilitating the shift from early markets to mass markets.
Position in the research arena
The objective of the group is to take a leading position in the application of research methods for long term energy and innovation policy. Methodology development is not an objective in itself. From this application-oriented framework further deepening will take place. This starting point holds for all areas in which the group operates, i.e. long term outlooks, energy-innovation and technology implementation.
