This project aims to tackle the security of supply on gas markets from both an upstream and downstream perspective. The main research question to be addressed is: “How can the notions of energy security, geopolitical relations and sustainability be included in a conceptual framework, applying institutional economy and gas value chain analysis, to contribute to effective policy making and regulation and strategy development in the gas industry?”
ECN Policy Studies’ main contribution to the project is assessing the developments in downstream natural gas markets (i.e. at the end-user) and analysing its implications with respect to security of supply.
The partners in this project are Delft University of Technology, Clingendael International Energy Program, GasTerra and Gasunie.
This project is ongoing. The project will be executed between August 2010 and December 2012.
