The CLIMACAP project aims to deliver improved modelling capacity and policy formulation to enable the development and implementation of low carbon development strategies in Latin America. The project will integrate model improvement, capacity building and policy strategy support into a single coherent process. This project combines experts and models on energy, land use (including agriculture and forestry) and other relevant aspects. For this integrated approach, CLIMACAP benefits from a balanced team containing parties that are not only specialised in the related activities, but also possess the tacit local knowledge to validate findings. As the Latin American institutes are full partners and essential to the outputs of the project, capacity is being built through tangible outputs and deliverables rather than solely relying on training sessions and workshops. CLIMACAP pays particular attention to policy recommendations and their interactions. The translation of complex modelling results into accessible recommendations or further re-search questions is key to the success of this project. The 'policy relevance' of the modelling, capacity building and dissemination activities is therefore embedded within each work package, task and deliverable in this project.
