Suzanne Brunsting

Dr. Suzanne Brunsting (1978) is an experienced research manager and advisor at ECN Policy Studies on societal acceptance and consumer decision making regarding sustainable energy technologies. Part of her work is about analysing and optimising stakeholder participation in for example wind, CO2 capture and storage, and geological disposal of nuclear waste. Another part of her work is about analysing and optimising end-user behaviour, behaviour change, and decision making with regard to the adoption of new energy technologies. She is particularly interested in understanding how to today’s niche behaviours may become tomorrow’s mainstream practices and how organizational and policy measures may help or hinder the diffusion of sustainable innovations and lifestyles. Suzanne holds a Masters’ degree in persuasive communication and a PhD in health promotion, specialized in how communication, social influence, and personal identity affect decision making and behaviour. Previous work experience includes the management of quit smoking campaigns at STIVORO.

    The purpose of this project is to develop effective strategies for engagement and communication of the public in the planning and decision making on CO2 capture and storage.
