Marit van Hout

Marit van Hout received her BSc degree in Earth & Economics in 2009 from VU University, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. In October 2011, Marit received her MSc degree in Spatial, Transport and Environmental Economics (STREEM) also from VU University in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. To complete the Master’s programme in the form of a thesis, Marit applied for an internship at the Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN). In November 2010, she started in the current Energy, Supply and Industry group to do research on the impact of high shares of intermittent generation in the future European electricity network, as a pre-stage analysis for the IRENE-40 project. For these purposes ECN’s COMPETES model was utilized. From August 2011 to present, Marit is employed at the Energy, Supply and Industry group at ECN as a scientific researcher. She is especially interested in (international) environmental economics, spatial economics, energy markets, and (global) sustainability issues.
