Jaap Jansen is a senior research fellow at ECN Policy Studies. He obtained a Master’s degree in Development Economics at the Erasmus University Rotterdam in 1974 and a Master in International Finance at the University of Amsterdam in 2002. Jaap specialises in the economic aspects of energy and climate policy. He has gained significant experience in security of supply policy in a variety of projects. In addition, Jaap has in-depth knowledge of energy-related environmental markets (emission allowances, renewable energy certificates, guarantees of origin) and regulatory frameworks for stimulation, and market and network integration, of low carbon energy. He was Lead Author of a CEPS Task Force report on renewable electricity stimulation policy, involving multi-stakeholder consultations among representatives of major EU stakeholders. He has coordinated many research and consultancy projects characterized by great complexity, and considerable diversity in size, including projects for international organizations such as the European Commission, World Bank, UNIDO, IAEA, NEA and ADB. |
