Hamid Mozaffarian

Hamid Mozaffarian joined ECN Policy Studies in January 2007. He is participating, among others, in two European projects: REDUBAR, a project under Intelligent Energy Europe, aiming at the implementation of biogas in the European natural gas grids, and BIOPOL, an FP6 project, assessing the status of innovative biorefinery concepts and the implications for agricultural and forestry policies. He began his work at ECN in 1991 in the System Assessment Group of the Unit Fuels, Conversion & Environment. From 2000 to 2006 he worked in the groups Biomass Systems, and Biofuels & Refinery Processes of the Unit Biomass. Some of his major expertises are: fuel cell systems for CHP applications, fossil or biomass-based IGCC processes, production of secondary energy carriers / transportation fuels (specially bio-SNG) from biomass gasification processes, biorefinery processes based on oleochemicals, and life cycle assessment. He has a MSc in chemical engineering at the University of Delft (1991).
