Francesco Dalla Longa works as a Scientific Researcher in the Policy Studies unit of ECN since October 2010. His work focuses on renewable energy, and his main interests are the implementation of cross-border cooperation mechanisms in EU, and novel approaches to modelling the renewable energy sector. Francesco has contributed to the development of RESolve-H, a model for the use of renewable technologies in the heating and cooling sector, and has applied it in several EU projects (RES-H Policy, Biomass Futures). Besides modelling work, Francesco is actively involved in project management. At the moment he is coordinating the project RES 4 Less (Intelligent Energy Europe), which explores to what extent cooperation among EU member states can contribute to a cost-effective deployment of renewable energy technologies. Before joining ECN Francesco worked as a Research Well Engineer at Shell, where he gained experience in technical project management and concept engineering. He holds a MSc in Physics from the University of Padova (Italy) and a PhD in Applied Physics from the Eindhoven University of Technology (the Netherlands). He is the author of several articles in leading international scientific journals. |
