Mr. Adriaan van der Welle (MSc Economics) works as a scientific researcher at the Energy research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN) since 2006.  His interests include the integration of intermittent renewable generation in electricity markets and grids, network regulation, energy markets design and security of supply. He has gained extensive experience in European and national research projects with analyses of current and possible future electricity systems in order to fulfill the need for decarbonised power, reliable delivered against affordable electricity prices. He advises policy makers and businesses on the required changes in policy and regulation for the uptake of innovative generation and network technologies, faster and more efficient grid expansion, and the realization of smart grids business cases.
