Ad Seebregts

Ad Seebregts studied at the Eindhoven University of Technology. He started working at ECN Energy Technology as Reliability Engineer/Risk Analyst some 22 years ago. He was mainly involved in safety, risk and reliability in the first 9 years. He is an Honorary Member of the Dutch Society for Risk Analysis and Reliability since 2000. In 1997 he moved to the ECN Policy Studies unit as scientific researcher and project leader. His key qualifications are power generation energy technologies (fossil, nuclear, and renewables), energy system modelling and scenario studies (EU and national level), uncertainty and decision analysis, risk and reliability analysis. He participated in a variety of European research projects during his ECN career. Since 2003 he is responsible for the POWERS electricity market simulation model, and performed a few specific studies on energy security of supply (SoS). Since 2004 he is also actively working in the CCS field. A.o. he has been and is still responsible for all the CCS modelling and analyses in the power generation sector since then (e.g. ECN/PBL national reference projections, GHG reduction Option Document, techno-economic assessments, assessment of Clean & Efficient (Schoon & Zuinig)). A recent CCS project is the FP7 CO2EuroPipe project in which he coordinates the ECN contribution and SP3 (Environmental and Societal Aspects). He also coordinates the CATO-2 SP4 Regulation and Safety. Currently , he is the Coordinator Electricity Production and CCS, focusing on the power generation sector in the Netherlands, environmental aspects of this sector, Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS).
