REPOWERS

Repowers is a short-term (24-168 hours), unit commitment simulation model for power systems. The model optimizes the dynamic economic dispatch problem based on ramp rates and unit commitment. Furthermore, the model can optimize the operation of storage in the system, while satisfying the spinning reserve requirement (minimum available capacity from online units that can be offered within 15’).

Such an instrument can be used, among other uses,

• to analyse the commodity value versus the value of flexibility of power,
• the impact of intermittency in the operation of the power system,
• and the role of different technologies, including storage (e.g. large-scale storage, electric vehicles) in offering flexibility.
