Hydrogen Transitions & Infrastructure

The Hydrogen Transitions & Infrastructure group (HT&I) conducts analyses to complete systems and has expertise in designing, modelling and assessment of hydrogen energy systems. A broad spectrum of energy systems is covered, as hydrogen is part of many possible energy chains. The objective of the HT&I group is to guide and to support the development and introduction of hydrogen technologies and hydrogen energy systems.

To achieve this objective, the group analyses:

  • The options to introduce and implement hydrogen into the energy system
  • The consequences of hydrogen for the energy infrastructure.
  • The role and impact of hydrogen in greenhouse emission reduction and other energy related policy goals
  • The impact of subsystems and individual elements on the performance of complete hydrogen energy systems

The HT&I group focuses on the techno-economic issues. Socio-economic issues are addressed in close cooperation with ECN's Policy Studies Unit.
