Without cheaper and more effective materials the PEM Fuel Cell will not become a commercial reality. And that is exactly what we, 17 highly skilled and enthusiastic specialists on physics and (electro)chemistry, are devoted to: achieving breakthroughs in materials. We have the ambition to realise substantial reduction in cost. On the other hand we want to improve the performance such as to make the PEMFC suited for a wider range of applications and operating conditions. At the same time we help develop early markets by making available the state-of-the-art PEMFC technology to third parties for training and product development.
To a large extend, our activities can be characterized as being materials development. In order to validate the functionality of the newly developed materials, we make components such as cells and stacks. These in turn are tested under real life conditions. The test results provide information that is of great value in setting the right targets for our materials development.
Thus, we contribute in progressing fuel cell technology to the point where it will meet customer requirements in terms of cost, durability, size, efficiency, etc..
