Only through new technologies and systems a substantial and sustainable improvement in energy and resource efficiency can be achieved. ECN’s Sustainable Process & Heat Technology Program focuses on reducing energy and feedstock consumption, with particular attention for thermal energy in energy-intensive production processes. These activities and technologies will lead to major energy savings and efficient use of raw materials in production chains.

The Sustainable Process & Heat Technology Program have four specific research area's:
