Consultancy
The unit E&I is collaborating with end users of energy in industrial processes and the built environment. These end users are large users of energy or responsible for large-scale energy use. The collaboration consists of:
- Consultancy in the field of energy efficiency of processes;
- Consultancy in the field of built environment;
- Joint development and introduction of new energy efficient processes and technologies.
The aim of the consultancy activities is to enhance the energy research that is conducted by ECN in the field of industrial processes and the built environment. Moreover, consultancy projects are often a good opportunity to bring new technology to the attention of end users. Sometimes this results in actual implementation of new technology. These activities thus contribute to the mission of ECN of transferring technology to the market.
Collaborating with ECN
In collaborations with ECN a protected knowledge position is pursued for all parties involved. In case of intellectual property (IP, patent, et cetera) the starting point is to give all collaborating parties the opportunity to strengthen their competitive positions. Financing is generated by all parties involved based on the starting point that more generic results are largely financed by ECN and more specific results are mainly financed by the collaborative party.
