ECN: Methanation

ECN

Methanation

The production of methane from H2 and CO is a catalytic process that is one of the key processes within the process of biomass to Substitute Natural Gas. Although SNG-related R&D efforts at ECN mainly focus on upstream units such as gasification and gas cleaning, lab-scale facilities include several fixed bed reactors that are for methanation. This enables ECN to perform tests at lab-scale from biomass to raw SNG.
