Wouter Huijgen works as a research scientist and project leader within the group Transportation Fuels and Chemicals of the unit Biomass, Coal and Environmental Research at the Energy research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN) in Petten, The Netherlands. His main research interest is the development of an organosolv fractionation technology for the biorefinery of lignocellulosic biomass. In addition, he works on pretreatment of seaweed biomass, analytics for lignocellulosic biomass, and valorisation of lignin. Wouter graduated in Chemical Engineering, specialisations: environmental engineering and process technology, from University of Twente in The Netherlands (2001). After his studies, he worked as PhD student at the Energy research Centre of the Netherlands in Petten, The Netherlands. In 2007, Wouter obtained his PhD on “CO2 sequestration by mineral carbonation” at the Wageningen University, in collaboration with Delft University of Technology, both in The Netherlands. |
