ECN signs up for partnership with China

On 9 and 10 July, ECN Deputy Director Kees van der Klein signed two agreements to work with the China Academy of Sciences on research and development in wind energy, fuel cells and solar panels. By bringing together knowledge and experience in various aspects of sustainable energy, this exciting new partnership will open the door to a variety of markets. [more]

International institute supports solar-energy industry

On Friday 6 July 2007, ECN and the International Solar Energy Research Center Konstanz (ISC) signed a letter of intent with four Dutch and German PV companies to establish an international research institute for solar energy, FESTpv. This will focus upon improving silicon production technologies for the rapidly growing photovoltaic industry, with the aim to reduce costs of photovoltaics. [more]

International award for ECN's Herman Snel

At EWEC 2007, the European Wind Energy Conference in Milan, ECN scientist Herman Snel was presented with the European Academy of Wind Energy’s Outstanding Scientific Award. [more]

Innovative facade halves energy consumption

Some eighty builders, building consultants and project developers visited ECN last month for the presentation of a new facade concept which can halve building related energy consumption in the offices inside. As a result of the Zon-WEL project the Smartfacade was presented: an innovative and promising facade concept with potential for market introduction in the near future.[more]

ECN publishes annual report

Current technology cannot affordably meet the ambitious energy targets set by the new Dutch government. So claims ECN, the Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands, in its newly published annual report. What is needed, it says, is accelerated realisation of new technology and the development of more know-how. [more]
