ECN co-organiser International Energy Workshop in Cape Town, June 19-21

In a world of environmental and economic challenges and uncertainties, modeling is an increasingly important tool for addressing the complexity of energy planning and policy making. The International Energy Workshop (IEW) is one of the leading conferences for the international energy modeling research community. The IEW provides an annual venue for analysts to compare quantitative energy projections, to understand the reasons for diverging views of future energy developments, and to observe new trends in global energy production and consumption.

This year the IEW takes place on June 19-21 in Cape Town, South Africa. It will include more than 100 presentations focusing on a wide array of topics, such as energy supply and price forecasts, energy savings and efficiency, renewable and other innovative energy technologies, environmental and climate policy, and the intersection between energy analysis, economics, and the natural sciences.

ECN is one of the partners of the IEW, and ECN’s Bob van der Zwaan is one of its co-directors. Bob van der Zwaan: “Hereby ECN contributes to strengthening the global knowledge infrastructure in energy systems modeling and providing policy makers around the world with indispensable quantitative analysis for guiding their decision processes, essential for establishing a sustainable energy future.”

More information is to be found at the website of IEW.
