ECN participates in workshop of ITRE commission of European Parliament
Last year, the European Commission issued a proposal for a Regulation on guidelines for trans-European energy infrastructure. The Commission proposes to select a number of projects of common interest which are important to reach its climate and energy goals. Projects of common interest benefit from faster permit granting procedures and are eligible for EU funding if they are not commercially viable. The proposal is currently under debate of the European parliamentary committee Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE). Coming Wednesday, 21st March 2012 the committee organises a workshop “Building a European energy infrastructure – selecting and implementing projects of common interest” in Brussels.
Adriaan van der Welle (Policy Studies) is invited to present key findings of a socio-economic analysis of the proposed Regulation and to answer questions of the members of the ITRE Commission of the European Parliament.
PS A CEPS/ECN workshop on the same subject will be held on 20th March 2012.
