The Third Annual User Day ECN O&M Tool
On Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 November the Third Annual User Day ECN O&M Tool was held at the premises of ECN in Petten (Netherlands). At present more than 20 leading project developers, turbine manufacturers, and consultants are using the tool to develop the most cost effective O&M strategy for offshore wind farms and to optimize their turbines with respect to maintainability. On the first day of the annual user day the users shared their experiences with the ECN O&M Tool and informed ECN about new features and wishers. On the second day topics related to O&M of offshore wind farms were discussed.
On Wednesday 2 November the participants listened to the experiences of new users (a.o. RePower, Nordex, Alstom, and Fraunhofer-IWES), discussed Version 4 of the ECN O&M Tool that was released last July, and ECN demonstrated the next generation tool for cost modeling and data analysis: the OMCE (Operation & Maintenance Cost Estimator).
Last year on the second day the users shared their experiences with collecting operational data and maintenance data of offshore wind farms, among others with the use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). For the third user day we again have discussed topics that were of interest for the users: “Condition Based Maintenance (CBM)”, and “Development of knowledge rules to assist operators in their daily work (Smart Maintenance)”. Apart from the discussions on these topics, ECN also presented its latest results on the development on load monitoring:
- Fibre Optic Blade Monitoring
- Fleet Leader model to determine the loads on all wind turbines in a wind farm at low costs
The user day was strictly limited to users of the ECN O&M Tool. If you have an interest in the tool or related topics, please contact Luc Rademakers (rademakers@remove-this-part-ecn.nl). More information can be found here.
